About Company
The organic farming company of KALNA SMĪDES 1 is located in the Drabesi Parish of Amata district – in the direct proximity of the Gauja National Park (GNP), on both banks of Amata river – about 80km from Riga
We are a family-run company with over 25 years of experience. Our 300 bee swarms produce honey from the trees and shrubs blossoming in GNP as well as from the locally grown specific nectar-plants – buckwheat, sweet clover and scorpion weed spanning over an area of 150 ha. Our bee swarm management technology (4 mobile pavilions with the capacity of storing from 12 to 30 bee swarms each) allows us to move the bee hives promptly to various pastures, thus ensuring an efficient use of natural and cultivated nectar-plant resources and varied range of products.

Certified in accordance with the requirements of the ES Organic farming regulation 2091/91 (Certificate No. 55/05); ES organic farming symbol is used in our product marking
We train farmers in management of an environmentally sustainable farming, conduct research in agronomy, bee-keeping and organic farming, as well as we provide rural tourism in association with LAUKU CELOTĀJS /Detailed information in the non-conventional tourism guide LAUKU LABUMI/.
